It’s been two years since I’ve started my business, and I can finally say I’ve done my first destination wedding! ST. LUCIA, you guys. I had my first destination wedding last April in ST. LUCIA! Vee and Tyler invited me, my boyfriend Andy, and a bunch of their close friends and family to join them on their special occasion. Most of us got to stay longer than the weekend which meant I got to play in the ocean and get my tan on!
The couple hosted their wedding at Sandals Regency La Toc located in Castries, St. Lucia. When we arrived, we were transported by the shuttle to the resort which took about an hour. As we drove up to our resort, we were able to view the island from seeing how the locals live to the breathtaking views of the ocean. When we got to our resort (absolutely GORGEOUS!), we were welcomed by cold-refreshing hand towels and champagne as we checked in. I felt like I was in a dream! Shortly after, Andy and I had our lunch, checked in to our room, and toured the resort. We spent that evening with the whole party– sipping on pina coladas and margaritas by the beach. Later at night, we found ourselves at the piano bar and ended our first night by jumping straight into the pool. That was a night I’ll never forget.
The rehearsal took place on Friday night followed by an intimate dinner. After dinner, there was an afterparty at the British pub (they have amazing chicken wings and fish and chips) where we danced the night away. Vee and Tyler ended the night earlier because they needed to be well-rested for the next day, and I called it quits after the fourth round of songs because well…I also had to be well-rested!
Saturday morning, I met with the girls at the salon where they were getting pampered. Andy was hanging out with some of the guys. It was a moment of calmness before all of the beautiful chaos. Vee and Tyler got married under a gazebo that looked out into the ocean. The view and vibes all around was amazing. Cocktails were served on a balcony overlooking the ocean at sunset, and dinner was set outdoors in an intimate space surrounded by palm trees and hanging lights. I was in awe of how beautiful the reception was! Can I please go back?
We ended the evening with a surprise show from St. Lucian dancers and limbo for all the guests. I danced the night away with the rest of the party and was overfilled with joy from the day! My first destination wedding is more than I’ve ever dreamed of. Vee and Tyler are so meant to be together, and I’ll quote my favorite line from Vee during her thank-you speech… “I’m weird. Tyler’s weird. Let’s get weird tonight!”
