Hello, loves! Spring is here, and I celebrate it by bringing talented and gifted ladies together for this inspiration shoot. This spring also marks a special milestone for my business. Whims and Joy is officially one year old! HOORAY! There is something else in the works for that celebration. :)

There are hundreds of inspiration shoots out there catering to spring weddings, but this one holds a sweet place in my heart. A lot of the details you’ll see in this shoot come from a vision I’ve been dreaming of way before my business was established. To see it all come together literally brings happy tears to my eyes. I will never forget that feeling as I stand in my studio and watch everyone come together and help me bring my dream to life. A special thank you to Kim, the owner and florist of Artemisia Studios, Marie & Faith at Posh Bridal, Kellie from Rustic Elegance Weddings, Ellen as the hairstylist, and Danya as the makeup artist. We all come from different artistic backgrounds and all come from different levels of experience (in our professions). At the end of the day, we all have started with a dream for our business. We all want to share our passion and creative ventures with the world. I cannot say how appreciative and blessed I am to have been connected with these ladies– their collaborative efforts mean so much to me.
The ones that are closest to me have described me as a free-spirited, spontaneous, and whimsical person. Yes, that is where my business name inherited! With that being said, I envisioned this bride and groom to be carefree and so in love. They both endure life and enjoy the little things in it. They both love simplicity but are willing to take on any challenges together. I wanted Kim to work with natural, nude, and blush colors for the floral to emphasize the beauty of simplicity. There were a lot of “oohs” and “ahhs” going around the room as we watched the studio turn into a beautiful and lush set.

Danya and I discussed a bit before the shoot about how we envisioned our bride’s makeup. This is what Danya had to say after the shoot when I got in touch with her. Coming in I wasn’t entirely sure I knew what I wanted to do yet. I wanted to see what the style of the shoot would be so that I can match the feel of the makeup to the design of the shoot. Once I saw the flowers they had arranged, I knew I wanted to give her a romantic feel that would make her eyes pop. Rachel has amazing eyes to begin with. First thing that came to my mind was a smokey, rosy eye. Something soft, but with a hint of boldness to make a statement. We also wanted her lips to pop against the backdrop and the natural light the studio provided, so I kept that in mind as well as matching the color scheme of the set. 

Everything came together beautifully and effortlessly with the work of these talented ladies. Faith, the sales manager at Posh Bridal, picked out two gorgeous dresses for our shoot. I wanted one to be light, flowy, and simple yet elegant. The first dress you will see is called “Tinsley” by Christos and it was the perfect fit for that description. Secondly, we have our “Adella” dress paired with an overskirt by Alyne Bridal and it definitely is a jaw-dropper! 

Head over to the dessert table and you’ll see the naked bundt cake that was baked by… me! I’m not a baker, but wow, it was pretty easy. I added a little vanilla frosting and powdered sugar for a special touch and Kim perfected it with floral decorations.

Not only was this inspiration shoot special for me, but I also hope that it can also inspire others to never quit dreaming. If you love what you do, you can make anything happen.
